What's so special about Strawberry Shortcake?

You may be wondering what's so special about Strawberry Shortcake. After all, it's a simple layout, what's the big deal, right? Truth be told, many of the elements can be edited directly with Blogger's easy-to-use Template Designer. But alas, some of the design features that Blogger turned on by default cannot be turned off with their Template Designer. So, I added over 50 lines of CSS to tweak the look just the way I like it. I go through the major transformation features in some "before and after" shots after the jump. It's all in the details...

Customize

You can change the background color, add a background pattern, change the text and link colors all within Blogger's Template Designer. You can also customize Strawberry Shortcake further by changing the banner, by adding image sidebar headers, and by adding popular category images. I hope you enjoy customizing Strawberry Shortcake. :)

Disclaimer:

You are welcome to modify the template and make any adjustments you like. However, please be aware that you are making these changes at your own risk and that I do not provide tech support. Please follow the setup instructions carefully. If you need assistance, please consult with someone who is familiar with installing Blogger templates.

  21. I'm in LOVE with this layout! I'm still adding my own tweaks to it...but I have one question. Is this layout not made for a navigation bar? (I hope this doesn't sound like I'm asking for tech support! I'm not! I promise!)

    ReplyDelete
  22. hey allie, the answer is: yes, you can add a navigation bar (via page elements). the only caveat is that i haven't added any css to style it.

i'm going to have a part 2 (and maybe even a part 3) showing you guys how to make strawberry shortcake your own and that includes adding a nav bar.

    :)

  25. This is a beautiful template! I just downloaded it as well as added a different header (couldn't figure out how to download this one -- it kept telling me that "windows cannot open the file") using some of your freebies. I have added your button to my blog, I absolutely love your site!

  26. Thank you so much for this Katrina! I have been wanting to update the look of my blog for a while but the whole concept of css terrified me... Thank you for making it so easy for me, and I must confess I am now addicted to Pugly Pixel and Powered by Pastries - you have really inspired me! :)
