Strawberry Shortcake Template Setup (Instructions Only)

Powered by Pastries: Free Blogger Layout

Disclaimer:
Before downloading or installing this layout on Tuesday, please make a backup of your current template. You are welcome to make any adjustments you like! However, please be aware that you are making these changes at your own risk and that I do not provide tech support with installation. Please follow these setup instructions carefully. If you need assistance, please consult with someone who is familiar with installing Blogger templates.

#1: Prep

a. Login to Blogger and make a backup of your current template.
b. Download the Strawberry Shortcake Layout.
c. Make sure that you have the following widgets installed in your current layout: profile, labels, and archives

In this example, this is how my original template looks:

#2: Install Strawberry Shortcake

The steps are the same steps used to Restore a Template. If you don't know how to restore a template, please follow the same steps as Restore a Backup (template). :)

Strawberry Shortcake has 4 widgets installed: profile, labels, archives, and a text widget for sponsorship ads. If you have more widgets, Blogger will give you a warning and it will ask you if you want to keep these widgets.

#3: If you have extra widgets

My before template had Followers installed and I chose to keep it in Step 2. As you can see in the image below, I have an extra widget. I only kept it as an example and I will remove it.

#4: Add your banner

Navigate to the Design Tab. In the Page Elements section, you can add your own banner by clicking Edit in the header section.

#5: Configure Header

Use the file explorer or file chooser to select your banner. You can also enter a URL if your image is on Flickr or PhotoBucket. For placement, select "Instead of title and description".

#6: Perfect Fit!

By default, the Strawberry Shortcut banner is set to 1000 pixels in width. A banner with any other size will require blog body adjustments.

#7: Finished

That's it -- you're done! I hope you enjoy adding your own touch to this layout. :)

  3. Sorry to bug you again - I swear it's not for tech support! :) Just wondered if there was any code provision for video? I noticed mine were skewed once I installed the new layout. If not, I'll search the internet for instructions on how to get it more centered.
(bartandmeems.blogspot.com just in case you wanted to see it on mine after I put your layout on! I love how it turned out!!)

  12. Hi - this may seem like a newbie blogger question but I uploaded your template and now the top links to my dashboard and new post etc are gone. How can i get them back?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @miss claire: when installing any new template, you are asked if you want to keep or delete existing widgets and this is pointed out in Step #2 above. you can get them back by restoring your backup.

  16. Hi there!

I'm a newbie here and i really like your template but I have a problem installing it. Blogger said that the attribution widget is missing. If you don't mind, can you tell me what to do with it? Thanks.

  17. @drawntolights: if the attribution widget is missing, i don't think you have to worry about it. can you continue after it indicates a missing widget?
